About Murray Yates

Singer/songwriter and founder of Forty Foot Echo, Murray Yates, has written his first solo single entitled “Let You Know” and has switched gears from rock music to piano inspired singer/songwriter music.

Yates has always been the key songwriter in his past bands. His former rock band , Forty Foot Echo formed in 2001. His previous project, an electro-rock hybrid called Templar, best known for their single "Here We Go", signed to EMI. Immediately following the break up of Templar, Yates returned home to Vancouver, Canada to write what would be his next hit single, "Brand New Day". After quickly signing on with Hollywood Records, Yates and the band relocated to Los Angeles, and recorded their debut self titled album, and two music videos for Much Music, including "Brand New Day" and "Save Me".

Yates music went on to be used for such Hollywood blockbusters as "Freaky Friday" and "The Prince and Me” in which Yates received an American gold record for sales. His songs were also featured on episodes of network television series "One Tree Hill”.

Yates recorded a second album entitled "Aftershock" at the Warehouse in Vancouver, and a third and fourth video under his own record label, Echoman Records. The album was produced by Darren Grahn and mixed by Randy Staubb (Avril Lavigne, Nickelback). Over the past few years Yates has explored his musical abilities and his skills on the piano and decided now is the time to record and release his first ever solo single entitled “Let You Know”. He continues to write songs, and explore his musical passion and curiosity. He began experimenting with different writing styles and going back to his roots as a pianist and songwriter. His new sound is soothing yet still has a melancholy emotion with hopeful melodies and inspiring arrangements. The new sound is current and will be a perfect fit for cross-over radio formats and film/Tv opportunities. Yates is also a professional recording engineer and producer which helps with the process and keeps costs low.

Keep an ear out for Murray Yates’s new single “Let You Know” due to be released in 2018.
